Learning Goal: I’m working on a health & medical question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

Part 1

Reflect on a type of hazard control that you have applied or that has been applied to reduce the risk of a job you perform at work or at home. Explain what that control is and describe where it fits within the hierarchy of controls (elimination, substitution, engineering, administrative, or PPE). Explain how successful, or unsuccessful, it is at eliminating or reducing your risk while performing the job.

Part 2

Think of a hazardous job you perform either at home or at work. Pinpoint one hazard to which you are exposed while doing the job. Work through the levels of the hierarchy of controls, briefly explaining why each level could, or could not, be applied to the hazard you identified. For the levels that can be applied, recommend a control that fits that type, and briefly explain how it reduces the risk to you when performing the job.
