Difference between Training and Learning
Training is the process of teaching a person or animal a particular skill or type of behavior. Learning is acquiring knowledge, developing skills, or changing attitudes. On the other hand, learning is an ongoing process in which you assimilate new information into your existing knowledge base. On the other hand, education is meant to develop students in a more general sense, while training may be put to use immediately. Learning is more prevalent and can be considered an umbrella term that encompasses training and education. Training may be regarded as a subset of learning that focuses on teaching skills.
Two Learning Theories
Knowles’ theory of adult learning is based on the premise that adults naturally tend to learn from their own experiences. Knowles suggested that adults are more likely to know when they are in an environment where they are successful and get positive feedback. It means that adults are more likely to know when they are in environments where they have been successful before and receive positive feedback from others (Palis & Quiros, 2014). The theory implies that its emphasis is placed on the learner, the learner’s capacity for self-actualization, the motivation that emerges from within, and the learner’s ability to steer him or herself. This principle states that adults typically need to be aware that they have something to learn, that previous experiences improve one’s ability to learn new things, and that the process of learning new information is viewed as a form of problem-solving.
On the other hand, social learning theory is based on the idea that people learn by observing and modeling. According to Bandura’s social learning theory, one may acquire knowledge that causes a shift in behavior through observing others, imitating their behaviors, and modeling one’s conduct (Cilliers, 2021). In addition, the theory hypothesizes that the learning process is accomplished by the imitation of roles and attitudes, in addition to the results that are expected. Simulations, examination, and role upgrades are all ways in which an individual’s learning capabilities may be improved. Individuals have the ability to quickly build new behaviors via observation, which in turn informs future actions. In a broad sense, the idea offers an explanation for human behavior by relating it to the ongoing interactive reciprocation that takes place between environmental, cognitive, and conductive forces.
