Discuss the role of values and ethics as they relate to customer relations, customer service and/or sales. What factors are important considerations in your opinion?

1) The importance of values and ethics in business is the major backbone of the initiatives and success of a business. For customer relations, executing sound business ethics and sticking to the good core values of an organization is going to instill trust and a level of consistency or dependability for the customer. In doing this, a company will be strengthening a deeper and more connected relationship with the customer. Furthermore, ethics and values impact customer service greatly. The values of a company are going to extend and influence policies and procedures to which the customer and the employee will experience during a sale, meeting, development, or any other stage of business. Treating the customer ethically and fair even in times of dispute or challenges will be key to instilling the best outcome for the company and the client. Sales is the top category of business that I think factor in the importance of values and ethics. The values of a department or company should not be to focus on numbers alone but to harbor a beneficial relationship for both seller and buyer with providing a needed product and executing transparent ethical practices involved throughout all the stages of producing a product.

2) For a business to be valued as ethical there are some aspects it must meet: integrity, honesty, respect, and law abiding. These aspects are all a part of being ethical and having high values for a company. If a company had no integrity then people would stop using them or purchasing products from them, for an example businesses that are in fashion. When people find out a company uses children to produce their clothing it tends to put a bad taste in people’s mouth and no longer want to purchase from them. Honesty is needed that way if something bad happens to a company, the people that run it know what is going on and at least have a chance to fix it or apologize for it. Respect and fair treatment should be given to all employees, customers, investors, vendors, community, and all who have a stake in and come in contact with the organization (Richmond, K., 2010). Law abiding should be something every company does, but unfortunately companies with a lot of power deal with temptation and think they would never get caught; even small companies. I believe the most important one is law abiding, if one company needs to follow the rules then all should follow. I know this is not the case at all, you always see some type of company in trouble but once people find out, how can we ever trust those owners again?
