Use the following information to write a news story. Use the inverted pyramid style of writing with the most important information first. Write a strong lede of 20 words or less.

Who: Michael Martin

What: Elected mayor of Central City, South Carolina

When: Monday, Aug. 22, 2022

Where: Central City government office building, 312 Main St.

Martin was chosen mayor. He won with 536 votes. Myrtle Mavis received 322 votes.

Martin will replace Miller Mitchell who served as mayor for the past 24 years.

In the election, 858 of the Central City’s 1122 registered voters cast ballots. All of the voting was done at the Central City government office building.

“He ran a positive race, and I will support him during his term,” Mavis said.

“We had two fine candidates to take my place. I would have been pleased with either one of them. Michael will be a great leader for our community,” said Mitchell.

“I can’t believe I won. Myrtle loves this town and has so many wonderful ideas. I want her on the team to decide the future of Central City,” said Martin.

Martin will take over the position on Sept. 19 in a ceremony at the government office building at 10 a.m.
