Unit 10 Discussion: Comparing the Worlds of Islam and Christendom

Learning Goal: I’m working on a history discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

After reading descriptions of both urban Byzantium and rural western Europe in Chapter 16, how did these Christian societies compare with those in the world of Islam at the time? Why was Western Europe such a rural region and when did that change? When you’re finished writing, remember to respond to at least two of your colleagues.
