2 easy education questions

Learning Goal: I’m working on a education & teaching question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

Q1

I want you to watch this FABULOUS Ted Talk and comment on it! Write about the danger of a single story, citing examples from this Ted Talk. Add a story you believed or some story that people believed about you. Then be sure to respond to one of your classmate’s response as well! Please be respectful!

For full points:

  1. Watch video, take notes!
  2. Pick three examples of the danger (the impact) of the single story.
  3. Write a minimum of three sentences for each example.
  4. You can use your own personal examples, they don’t have to be from Adichie’s – just connect it to her talk.
  5. Respond to one student’s comment with a couple of sentences.

The Danger of the Single Story: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Q2

What a wonderful read! Jacqueline Woodson, scholar and children’s author of many books gives her quick take on “the telling of the tale”. I especially love her finals words in this piece!
What is so important about the story when it comes from the actual person – or rather, from someone of that culture or identity (insider perspective)? What connected with you? Your reflection don’t have to be formal or brilliant. And you can disagree about a point and tell us why? Or reflect on something meaningful and tell us why! Then check out your fellow student’s responses. Pick one and comment on it. Please be respectful to your fellow students!
For full points:
Why is it important to hear an ‘insider perspective’ tell the story? Pick an example.
Write a quick paragraph explaining why this example connected with you (five sentences minimum).
Respond to two classmates’ comments (three sentences minimum).
